principal objective of the Charles S French Charitable Trust is to
provide grant giving support to a wide range of charitable activities,
primarily within Essex and North East London, whilst maintaining and
developing the value of the Trust's investments and assets.
Trust's six Trustees, all of whom have connections to the late Charles
French, are committed to managing the Trust in his memory and for
the promotion and advancement of such charitable bodies, associations
and trusts as they may consider at their discretion. The aim is to
maximise the value of annual grants made, by supporting charities
which demonstrate that they make a worthwhile contribution to the
needs and lives of others, whilst keeping costs and overheads low.
the year ended 31st March 2017 grants were distributed to projects
in the following categories: Community and Arts (16%), Disabled
and Disadvantaged (16%),
Medical (15%), Hospices (14%), Children
and Youth (13%), Sports and Holidays (13%), Educational (10%), and
