Charles S French Charitable Trust

… where the Charles S French Charitable Trust has made a difference.

1st Ingrave Scout Group

Thank you very much for the grant you have made towards the modernization of our Scout hut. The extension is almost complete and we are now raising money to update the original hall to add insulation to the walls and roof.

Beckton Skills Centre

Thank you again for your support. The funding enabled us to successfully run the Build it- Race it-Go Kart Project. The project promoted the positive side of education by enabling young people to learn about mechanical engineering in a fun, relaxed way, with Maths and English skilfully being embedded into the sessions.

Buttle UK

I wanted to thank you again for your support and get in touch to update you about our work over the past year at Buttle UK. Alongside our Enhanced Grants we continue to award smaller grants for emergency items such as beds or washing machines. Without this, children and young people are sleeping on the floor or helping Mum to wash their clothes in a bathtub.

Colchester Furniture Project (The Shake Trust)

We write to let you know the donation you generously gave us has been put towards the running costs of our project to improve the physical, mental and emotional well-being of disadvantaged people who suffer social exclusion in Colchester. We have maintained our work of collecting, storing and then distributing donated furniture and household items free of charge. In 2015-16 we received a total of 419 referrals from 23 different agencies helping disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Contact The Elderly

I am writing to update you about our tea parties which are currently taking place throughout the UK. Our three Redbridge groups continue to thrive and are currently supporting a total of 21 older guests with 55 volunteers. As you are aware we tackle elderly isolation and loneliness - free monthly tea parties for older people, supported by a network of volunteers, within local communities. The social gatherings bring individuals together and develop fulfilling friendships and support networks.

Dream Holidays

I am writing to thank you for your kind donation of £1500. We managed to help 189 families this year which is a fantastic amount and of those families this year, 10 were from Essex, so you can be assured your donations are going towards helping families from your area.

Handicapped Children's Action Group

I would like to confirm that we have used the grant towards specialist tricycles for two children living in Barking and Dagenham. One child is 3 years old and has a movement disorder affecting her whole body and the other is almost 8 years old and has Cerebral Palsy which affects his whole body. The we have provided will give them the independence and mobility they lack.

Hot Line Meals Service (London)

Thank you once again for the generous grant awarded in December 2015 towards the costs of providing training for disadvantaged young people and nutritious daily meals for
children and elderly.

These meals prepared, cooked, packed and delivered by our faithful volunteers made an enormous difference to the lives of the elderly, the disadvantaged and the deprived children who received them. Instead of going to bed hungry, or subsisting on unhealthy fast food, the children and the elderly were able to enjoy a nutritious well balanced meal which improved their physical and emotional health. As well as the obvious physical benefits, they felt nurtured and better cared for, despite their difficult circumstances.

Immediate Theatre

We would like to thank you for this generous donation we received in November 2016 which has allowed us to continue to support the most vulnerable young people in our Hackney community. If you have any questions about the report, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Loughton Ladies WI Choir

Loughton Ladies WI Choir preparing to sing at the annual WI Carol Service in December. The service alternates between the Loughton and the Buckhurst Hill Branches of the WI, and this year it took place in the Methodist Church in Loughton. Your continuing support of our Choir is very much appreciated.

Muscular Dystrophy UK

Your support has been instrumental in helping us to deliver vital service for people living with muscle-wasting conditions in Essex. None of the work would have been possible without the support of organisations such as your own. Thank you once again for your generous and continued support, it is very much appreciated.

Open Door

Over the summer of 2016 Open Door organised a number of workshops with young people creating film, art and photography reflecting on the experience of being an adolescent in 2016. The work generated from the workshops was displayed at the Ply Gallery in Hornsey Town Hall. Over 500 people visited the exhibition during its 5 day run.Thank you Charles S French Trust for your support.

Quaker Social Action

We act on poverty, but we never act alone. We are grateful to you for entrusting us to help those struggling with poverty.

Strongbones Children's Charitable Trust

We are writing to thank you for your donation. Many of the youngsters we encounter come from the poorest sections of society coupled with the fact that many of their parents have had to give up employment to provide round the clock care for the life altering conditions of their children.

Tower Hamlets Parents Centre
The Parents Centre with the funding awarded, provided an educationally related Programme of activities during the Summer Holiday for disadvantaged children and families from ethnic minority communities living in the Housing Estates adjacent to the Parents Centre. The Programme was attended by 155 beneficiaries which included 120 children and young people of 2-16 years of age and 35 parents.

Volunteering Matters - Active Volunteering Essex

I would like to thank you for your generous donation towards our Active Volunteering South Essex project. Your donation will help us in 2 areas. We will enable young people with learning disabilities to travel to a leisure facility to learn sports, such as squash and badminton in Brentwood. We will also organise a number of small scale group volunteering activities which will also benefit the local community, such as a litter clean-up day in Canvey Island.

The Limes Community & Children's Centre

Your generous grant of £1,000 towards our Developing Creative Play Project has enabled the Limes to continue to provide more opportunities for children with a disability in Waltham Forest to access play sessions which are increasingly rare. During a recent review of services at The Limes 59% of parents said that their child does not have friends outside of The Limes, 84% of parents agreed that their child is happier since attending and 65% noticed an improvement in confidence since their child has accessed services at The Limes.

Woman's Trust

During the past year we have seen some exciting developments. This has only been possible with your help and I would like to say how much your willingness to fund us is appreciated.
