With your support, we expanded our Carer Support team, helping us make life better for older carers and carers of older loved ones across the UK, including Essex and north-east London, by reaching them and reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Our supporters have helped spread joy and music during a particularly difficult time for care home communities.
Bridgeside Lodge Care Home, where we do the majority of our work, closed their doors to non-essential visitors from Thursday 19th March 2020, which meant that our planned group music session on Friday 20th had to be rethought. Not to be deterred, Spitz musicians Laurence and Marcus set up a PA system in the garden of Bridgeside Lodge, wandered the canal path and sang at the windows of residents, while other residents danced on the balconies.
The Silver Line
We would not have been able to reach so many isolated and older people without the support of our donors and stakeholders. Thank you for your generosity. During the last 12 months, The Silver Line Helpline has been open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and answered 270,000 calls. More than 13,600 of those were from people living in Essex.
Friends of the Elderly
Charles S French Charitable Trust funding enabled our grants service to provide vital financial help to older people living in poverty in Essex. Many of our clients are living in financial hardship and have no one else to turn to for support, so we are truly grateful for your donation which helped 6 older people with a one-off grant for basic household items and essential living costs. Thank you.
